i used a pressure washer and stuck the wand inside the barrel and cleaned it out that way. I have let mine air out for awhile now and have no smell.

i rinsed once. got the sryup out. water still has a dr. peper smell. dont care too much lol

That's gonna stink!!! I can't imagine that smell will come out of there anytime soon. At least the Dr.Pepper and Mt.Dew syrup smelled good...

You are probably right. Hopefully the smell will fade. I am not in a rush to use the drums within the next few weeks, so I will take my time and wash multiple times.

That's a good find. I rinsed mine out, then soaked them with Clorox and water for 3 days... still smelled like Dr. Pepper, but that smell is gone now.
