Default Group Buy on Salt Water Correct Sea Salt

Hey folks!

I'm running low on salt and with 2 new tanks coming on line next month it's time to restock.

Saltwater Correct (one of our sponsors) is the salt I have been using exclusively for the last 6 months with good results, my Alk and Ph are rock solid and I like the ability to add my calcium as needed. I have talked with Garry (the owner) about our club doing a group buy and he is willing to help out based on the amount we purchase.

If you would like to get in on this buy reply here.

To start a 25 gallon bag is (rounding off) $9
A case of 6 - 25 gallon bags is $45

The more cases (or singles) we buy the cheaper the cost. I plan to buy 3 cases myself to get us started, which I believe brings the cost down to $43 a case. Check out his site for more information... look for the green box toward the bottom of the salt page for bulk cost. www.gettankedaquariums.com

I plan to make the run north to pick up the salt, or anything else you may need from him, on Sunday March 30th. I'll need your money by then.

Get the 5 pound size for $20... can't be beat and it won't go bad on the shelf.

Okay, I have you down for one case of salt and I'm guessing 5 pounds of carbon.

I hate to say it, but I am almost out of Salt. Since we have never really bought salt, this is going to be new to me. But since you like it so much and everyone is saying it is good. I will get some. I will be out of salt by June, and this seems like a great buy. Cant beat 150 gal of salt for $43.

Put me in for 4 cases of salt, and 1 5lb bag of carbon. that would be 2 cases for me and 2 cases for my father inlaw.

Actually, I have found if you mix your salt for a SG of 1.022 it is closer to 170 gallons of salt per case. Garry sets his mix at a SG of 1.026 which is higher than most other manufacturers.

I will tell you that it does take some getting used to the 2 part mix. To give you the max Alk the calcium is packaged separately. The calcium needs to be mixed in fresh water (RO/DI), then added to the tank... but that extra step is worth it IMO. I've been testing alot lately with the new tanks coming on line and like what I see. I have never had such rock solid Alk and Ph levels before.

He does have the smaller 5 gallon packages of salt mix for those with nano's.

Thanks Dan (fishwish), with your added order you just helped all of us by getting the best price possible on salt, which now, with 10 cases ordered dropped our price to $39 per case.

Right now, I have....

Me at 3 cases of salt
Rob at 1 case of salt, 1 - 5 pound bag of carbon
Ken at 4 cases of salt, 1 - 5 pound bag of carbon
Dan J. at 2 cases of salt

I'll give Garry a call and give him the heads up so he will have enough ready for the 30th.

Mike,

I love Garry's salt mix, and my little tank has been doing pretty well since I first got it going with the 2-part salt, but I can't seem to manage to keep my alk above 7-8 dKH without dosing his alkalinity powder. Where does your alk stay? Also, do you have to purchase calcium from him in addition to what is provided with each mix? I find that my calcium - even with a low load of growing corals - sometimes drops to around 350 between bi-weekly water changes. Do you think that going to weekly water changes will solve this?

(I'd be interested in the group buy, except I order the 5 gal mix bags for my 29g tank.)
